Artist's Comments

+ Title inspired by the song "This Side of Brightness" by Thursday. It's something more than a run-down shack ... it's the embodiement of what once was. ;) (Wink) Remember, optimism can work miracles if you let it.

+ I've been running low on things to upload lately. I found this in my film folder and figured it was past due for uploading. Enjoy!

+ Another shot from the Indiana Chronicles.

i love how every element in the shot ties in perfectly your concept behind it

from the withered appearance of the grass/shrubs to the yellow-brown of the shack...everything adds...composition's really need as well...i love how (as eskie said) the shack is kinda tucked into the corner - forgotten, uncared for

kudos :)

Man... what a depressing image... damn and here i was trying to cheer myself up by doing a little creative and positive critiques. :/ Ok lets see what i can come up with for this image. The colring of the image is nice (color harmony all around) ... but i dont know its just... well ...BLAH... if i can use that word. Though it does add to a dead broken feeling of the image its just not an image i like to look at for a while. This is nothing against you r technique or capture, its just a personal thing of mine, so please dont take offense.

If i were taking this image i would perhaps have made the building have a little more presence in the image as opposed to the trees... this might add to the desolate and borken feeling of the image, but then again it might not work because i have no idea what exactly the landscapr of this place was.

... ok im out of ideas on this one .... NEXT!

Somehow gives me a dark feeling, it's bright outside but I can feel that there's something in the house, it's old and ragged, and those trees, creepy, the picture just reminds me of a film, Jeepers Creepers, lol. Too much horror movies I guess. +fav

I like noise. I need noise. When it's too quiet, I can hear my brain cells dying.

Nice shot Foo. You are exactly right about the "what once was" aspect...... that is all I can think of when looking at abandoned buildings , old desereted belongings and things like that. I love exploring places like this.... I just need to learn to bring my camera along more! I like the border as well.... very fitting.

Thats such an inspiring shot. Reminds me of wise old men and women. My family goes to tenessee alot and we see alot of these there. I love them, It makes you wonder of how those people lived their lives. So many stories should be hidden there. Ahhh this is awsome.
