I'm tired, up past my bed time, and want to go to bed. So this is going to be particularly short and sweet right now.
I've spent the past day or so watching the events of this community unfold. Actually, let me rephrase that... I've spent the last 2 and a half years on staff, watching the events of this community unfold, refold, shift, evolve, and change. And then some.
I'm not here to spout about what has happened lately. I'm just fed up with standing to the side, watching so many people in this community flee like children because they're upset and/or confused. Do I have every single one of the answers? No. Of course not. But I know enough to know that so many of the assumptions that recent protests/actions are based on are built on weak foundations. Let me say this. I support $spyed. I support °jark. I support those who have, whether in the past or the present, given something to this community. Whether they helped build this community into what it is now, or are helping to bolster it for the future, I'm behind those that have a vision.
And that's about all I have to say.
Other than...DA is not going corporate. Hearing those comments infinitely pisses me off. Contrary to popular belief, you can't run a website this big using your Yahoo hosting account. You pay for the bandwith, the physical hosting space, the hardware, the people to upkeep it, and the 24/7 type of staff it takes to keep an operation this large actually running. That's all. Just stop and think why a website like this might be trying to make money. Just remember that your rational thought means more than anything for this community. No matter what you support, please don't go blind in the process.
Thanks for your time. And I apologize for this being neither short nor sweet. It just had to be said.

I'm off to dream with Miss Jensey.

Thank you so much for the stamp. <3 It's in my journal at the top.

deviantART will never be the same without °jark and °matteo.
On August 7th, let's bring back the COMMUNITY.
We are a community. He can't stop us.
as a staff member do you have a bigger picture of whats going on ?
i understand you cant disclose any of that info so don't think thats my next question
still, i assmume that dA, at its current point, is banking enough money to afford the servers and the bandwith
it seems like $spyed wants to limit the community so that there are less people and less new art to hold off the high bills

I support a community centered administration, not a corporate one!

Bang Bang
I love this community, but what happened to Scott was a slap in the face to everything he stood for and everything he and Matt built this site around. The current administration was not here from the beginning, and the CEO wasn't even labelled an administrator until mid 2002. We are "jumping on a bandwagon" because we believe that integrity has lapsed, and that there is administrative indifference toward the deviants who make up this community. Until the administration honestly says anything the disaffection will continue and possibly grow. Leaders are here to empower those around them and inspire confidence through steadfastness and visible integrity, not tell them to fall in line and trust blindly, as we are being told to now.
That's where many of us stand. It's not about sides. It's about doing, saying and being committed to what's right - things many of us cannot be sure of in light of the founder's removal and resulting information blackout.
